| July 04, 2005 - Outsource Electronics, the contract electronic assembly specialists, have acquired some of the assets of Mindsail and have recruited the founders to provide their own in-house design facility. Andy Simpkins and Chris Howe will continue to work under the Mindsail banner giving Outsource a full service from design and prototype through to manufacturing and logistics.
Managing Director of Outsource, Chris Coldbreath, said, "We have twenty five thousand square feet of manufacturing space and have thrived on providing a competitive and reliable service for low to medium production. The arrival of Chris and Andy completes the circle and enables us to manage the entire product life cycle under one roof." Mindsail was formed as a freelance design house specialising in embedded systems design. Between them, Andy Simpkins and Chris Howe have over 15 years experience in embedded systems, bespoke computer applications, and telecommunications and control systems design. Many of their later designs were produced at Outsource's facility in Havant. Their hands-on approach to production handover led to the development of a close working relationship with Outsource Electronics. Talking about the synergy between Outsource and Mindsail, Chris Howe said, "We are delighted to be able to formalise the working relationship that ourselves and Outsource Electronics have long enjoyed. By adding design services to Outsource's portfolio, Outsource can now offer a complete end-to-end production service. Clients can request a specific box to meet their needs and Outsource will then investigate, design, produce, ship and support the product from conception to delivery." Outsource also introduced a full logistics service last year giving customers the option to have end product shipped directly from the Outsource factory. Marine electronic specialists, Tacktick Ltd, are among their customers who utilise the service. By using Outsource's facilities, Tacktick streamline their manufacturing processes and reduce handling costs. All accessories are delivered to Outsource Electronics along with branded packaging and even product labels. Final products are assembled, processed and delivered all over the world. Chris Coldbreath said, "Increasingly the CEM market is moving towards 'full build' manufacturing, with our added design and logistics capabilities we are now extremely well equipped to compete in that market."
